Hondius will be the first ship to class "LR PC6" which meets the latest and most stringent requirements of Lloyd's Register for "Polar Class 6" ships, the highest Polar Class notation for ice-strengthened ships. The ship will also fully comply with the mandatory requirements of the Polar Code, by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) for the safe operation of ships and protection of the polar environment.
